What shops and facilities are in Almancil?
Almancil is a town, whereas Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago are luxury developments. For this reason, there are more shops restaurants cafés, along with banks and a post office, right here in Almancil.
Where are the banks all located?
If you are staying in Vale do Lobo then the nearest bank is in Almancil, there are various
Portuguese banks to chose from, and all of them are on the main street.
Opening times are: 8.30am - 3.00pm Monday - Friday.
What is special about São Lourenço church?
This church is a building of which the local people are very proud. The expanse of decorative 18th Century tiling on the interior walls, ceiling, vaults and cupola provides one of the best examples of Baroque art in the Algarve. The tiles depict biblical scenes and the main altar is intricately carved and gilded. The whole impression is one of great craftsmanship.
Where is the best place to shop for groceries?
There are supermarkets at Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago, but none compare with the largest and best (produce and prices) in Almancil, called Apolonia. It can be found on the main street on the western side of the town about a kilometre before you arrive at the EN 125, heading towards Vilamoura.
Is there a medical centre in Almancil?

Is there a chemist?
There is more than one chemist shop in the town; you can identify them easily by the green cross which is usually illuminated when they are open for business. The local system obliges one chemist shop in an area to stay open very late or 24 hours for dispensing. The address of the chemist giving the late service is usually posted at the door of all other chemist shops in the area.
