Puerto de Pollensa
First-rate Villas in Puerto de Pollensa
The fine white sands and warm Mediterranean waters of Puerto de Pollensa make this region of
Majorca an ideal destination for rest and relaxation. Secluded coves,
dramatic cliffs, scented pines and a majestic mountain back drop add to the delight - but Puerto de
Pollensa has much more to offer than the blessings of its beautiful coastline. Located to the north
east of Majorca, this former fishing village has an excellent array of accommodation for everyone,
especially couples and families. From chic apartments to family hotels; luxury villas to rustic fincas,
there is a holiday home to appeal to every taste.
In contrast to the larger resorts to the south of the island, this small town has a friendly,
cosmopolitan atmosphere and a unique charm rooted in its rich cultural heritage.
You're in good company
For many years, the vibrant colours and scenic contrasts of the region have been inspiring artists and
musicians, drawing talented and celebrated visitors from all over Europe and beyond. This mixture of
influences has made Pollensa a unique holiday destination. So, be prepared to experience the piquant
flavours of north east Majorca - and a lot more besides. From art galleries
to fiestas, gourmet restaurants to tapas bars, local markets to trendy boutiques, it's all here.
Music events range from jazz to classical and this region is home to the internationally acclaimed
Pollensa Music Festival, a collection of concerts by top performers which take place during the summer
months. Museums let you trace the town's chequered history right back to Roman times and, if you love
arts and crafts, why not browse the wares of local artisans at the vibrant weekly market.
Do things your way in Puerto de Pollensa
The glorious horse shoe shaped bay is edged by a fringe of glorious white sand. The wide 'paeso', a
pedestrian walkway, follows the shoreline from Pollensa's marina to the tree lined Palm Walk, taking in
a variety of bars, restaurants, shops and galleries. During the day, you may want to spend some time
lounging by the pool at your villa, or choose to wander down to the fantastic beach where numerous
water based sports are on offer, from scuba diving to sailing. Close by, golf, tennis and horse riding
are among the many land-based pastimes guaranteed to keep the energetic fully occupied.
On balmy evenings, you can change the mood to suit yours, with a meal in one of the many excellent
restaurants and bistros, a little late night music or just a leisurely stroll beneath the palms and
pines.
Keeping everyone happy
If your party spans a range of ages, don't worry because Puerto de Pollensa has universal appeal.
Teenagers have a great time at the resort and, for little brothers and sisters, the town has its own
air conditioned indoor play area called "Fantasy World". It's a place where they can let off
steam and it also offers childminding facilities. The region is renowned for its lively fiestas and
they're a big hit with most visitors to the region. The calendar of events begins in January with the
celebration of San Antoni, patron saint of animals, and runs right through to November with the
"Fira de Tardor" or Autumn Fair, which is a hearty celebration of local culture.
Cycling is a good way to explore the countryside around the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains and the local hire shop
organises excursions which include guides, maps and a packed lunch. If you prefer to take it easy,
take a bus. Wind your way up the stunning coastline to Cap de Formentor by bus or car - or take a water
taxi.
As well as great scenery, Pollensa has its own nature reserve. Albufereta Marshes is a protected
wetland reserve boasting almost two hundred species of birds. Well worth a visit.
