Mar de Menor
Villas at Mar Menor Golf Resort
As the name suggests, this is the perfect holiday destination for golfers, but golf is by no means the
only attraction. One of the acclaimed Polaris World resorts, this unique, self contained villa
development is a not so much a resort, as a village with a delightful community atmosphere and 5
glorious kilometres of beach promenade.
The superb range of two, three and four bedroom villas not to mention the shops, bars, restaurants and a great choice of sporting facilities make the Mar Menor Golf Resort ideal for families too. All this, neatly landscaped and built around an 18 hole championship golf course.
About the golf
The golf course was conceived by Dave Thomas, designer of over 70 golf courses worldwide and perhaps
best known for that magical home of three Ryder Cups The Belfry. With a pedigree of this calibre,
golfers can have high expectations of the Mar Menor Golf Course, which has been recently extended from
9 to 18 holes. The course is carefully designed to challenge the more experienced golfer, without
excluding the beginner, but if you like variety, there are seven other major courses, including three
at the La Manga Club, just 15 minutes' drive away.
Beaches and more
The long Mediterranean coastline and the warm, shallow waters of the Mar Menor inland sea combine to
offer a perfect setting in which to relax. The beaches have been awarded the Q award for quality and
cleanliness and there is a whole host of water based sports to enjoy, such as sailing, diving, jet
skiing and snorkelling. If you prefer the pool, there is an excellent outdoor facility with a poolside
bar and many of the villas have private pools of their own.
Inspired by the spirit of the village community, the Mar Menor Golf Resort has its own social club, which takes in a variety of activities and useful facilities to make your stay more pleasurable. For example, there are tennis courts and you can play any time between 8am and 8pm on the unique rooftop facility. If you like to work out, the complex has a well-equipped gym and a programme of aerobics classes, with a team of helpful staff to advise you.
Shopping, eating and drinking
The social club also includes a hairdressing salon and a well stocked supermarket, with banks, a
pharmacy and a good assortment of shops in nearby Torre Pacheco, just 2 kilometres distant. There are
markets in many of the local towns, with fish a speciality in Lo Pagan and Mazarrón, so if you want to
eat in from the barbecue, there is plenty of fresh local fare to choose from.
The walled town of Cartagena and the region's capital, Murcia, have an excellent choice of restaurants, bars and clubs, but the food within the resort is also very good - and you don't even have to get in the car. In particular, the à la carte restaurant has a reputation for fine cuisine.
