What World Tourism Day 2018 means to us

AUTHOR : CLAUDIA

Travel, no matter the distance or destination, has proven to broaden the mind. Exploring the world gives you the opportunity to understand new cultures, learn new languages, and of course, sample the delights of new cuisine.

The annual World Tourism Day, held this year on Monday 27 September, is your ticket to celebrate your unique love for travel, whether you’re journeying to the far corners of the world, or a short stop off to a neighbouring country. Find a location you’ve always wanted to visit, explore its culture and points of interest, and document your travels to spread the word and inspire others to do the same.

To celebrate World Tourism Day 2018, we’ve been speaking to our expert team to find out why they love all things travel.

Richard Robinson – Joint Managing Director

Richard Robinson, Sun-hat Villas

What makes a holiday special for you?

A holiday for me is a time to really relax and kick back with family and friends. While my work and career are obviously very important, it’s also crucial in a world of 24-hour email and social media to have some time to recharge your batteries.

Where is your dream destination?

I love my creature comforts and familiar surroundings, so nothing overly adventurous for me. A private villa in the Algarve of Majorca suits me down to the ground.

What makes a holiday special for you?

A holiday for me is spending time with my partner, having all my home comforts but at a more superior standard, with fantastic views of my surroundings and the independence of my own self-catering facilities.

Where is your dream destination?

My dream destination would have to be Canada. I would love to tour the Rockies, visiting Banff, Jasper and of course, the beautiful Lake Louise.

Rob Knox – Product Manager (Algarve villas)

What makes a holiday special for you?

Knowing I am going to get quality, value for money and great service makes it easy to relax and unwind once I am on holiday.

Where is your dream destination?

I would say the Algarve because I love it so much, but then again, I do live here. So, outside of the Algarve, it has to be Mexico. The culture, the cuisine and of course, the weather are attractive qualities. I’ve had a couple of fantastic holidays there.

Ann Evison – UK operations manager

Ann Evison

What makes a holiday special for you?

I love all holidays, but I mainly love the ones where you spend time with the family and dog by the sea.

Where is your dream destination?

My dream location would be the Pink Palace in India. It looks incredible and completely unique.

Charlotte Pugh – Algarve Villa Specialist (Reservations)

Charlotte Pugh

What makes a holiday special for you?

What makes a holiday special for me is spending time with my fiancé and my two babies (Lab crosses, Aggy and Molly) - quality time with those closest to me.

Where is your dream destination?

San Francisco – I really want to visit Alcatraz for its history!

Why not ask yourself ‘what makes a holiday special for me?’ and document where your dream destination would be? Get involved and feel inspired this World Tourism Day.
