Quinta do Lago has its own beach, offering the same seclusion, privacy and exclusive atmosphere as the rest of the resort. Praia Quinta do Lago is a fine, almost white dune beach in the large Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. It stretches for almost three kilometres along a biodiverse swamp area and can only be reached via a long boardwalk.

The beach is well served by Gigi’s beach bar which has been feeding beach patrons for over 20 years. Lying on an immaculate stretch of gleaming white sand on the edge of the Ria Formosa Gigi’s offers some breath-taking views. No wonder it is popular with some of the most famous visitors to Quinta do Lago including Formula One racing drivers, pop stars and even royalty.

The wide range of facilities on offer at Praia Quinta do Lago is rounded off by a broad palette of water sports activities. The family friendly beach has very good conditions for windsurfing and kiting and the waves are always good enough for surfing novices too.

Artur Watersports Academy owns a 1500 square metre area of the beach where they provide equipment and tuition for a number of motorised water sports. Here you can try water skiing or get towed across the in a banana boat. They also hire out and provide instruction for parasails, pedal boats and stand up paddle boards.

The prices at Praia Quinta do Lago are relatively high, as the clientele is rather more exclusive than on some other beaches. In the summer months a great many families come here, so it can get very full and hectic. If you prefer a bit more tranquillity, a short walk east or west will soon find you a secluded spot. Unfortunately, however, even there you can’t get away from the occasional noise of planes taking off and landing.
