Directly in front of the Vale do Lobo resort is the long sandy beach. Stretching for just over a kilometre the beach is framed by the typical Algarve ochre-coloured cliffs. The beach here is backed by two of the coast's finest courses; the Royal Golf Course and the Ocean Golf Course.

The broad area of sand, immediately adjacent to the resort, is lined with well-kept beach umbrellas, sun loungers and a massage station. Here you will find the Praca, an area dedicated to fantastic restaurants, vibrant bars, and nightly entertainment.

Among the eateries here are the renowned restaurants Sandbanks Fish & Seafood Restaurant, La Terrazza and La Creperie Café. Bars are also well catered for with The Beach Bar, Monty’s, Deck Bar, Breeze Papagaio and the nightclub Gecko Disco in the complex.

A walk in either direction will bring you to more tranquil territory surrounded by a fantastic backdrop of red cliff faces and almost white sand. When you go for a wander the sand is no longer lined with the tastefully presented, white holiday houses, but is bordered instead by a low-lying natural landscape and glowing red, sparsely vegetated cliff faces.

Given the upmarket nature of the Vale do Lobo it is no surprise that the beach has been awarded a Blue Flag consistently since 1987. Simply relax on the golden sands, take a soothing massage or enjoy the cooling Atlantic waters. However if you’re looking for sea views but without the sand, the pool complex in the resort with its adult and children’s pools offers an excellent alternative.
