There’s lots of family friendly fun available in the Algarve. Waterparks like Slide & Splash, Aquashow Park and Aqualand will keep young and old busy all day with enough activities to tucker out the most active of family members.

Here's a list of our favourite suggestions for keeping the kids entertained whilst on holiday in the Algarve.

Artur Watersports

Quinta do Lago Lake has a dedicated water sports centre, Artur Watersports Academy, which means that visitors don't need to go far to enjoy a variety of sports on the lake.

The lake avoids any motorised sports such as speed-boating or jet-skiing and instead provides tuition, lessons and facilities for those activities which rely on either the water or the wind for power.

Windsurfing, sailing, scuba diving, canoeing, kayaking and dinghy sailing are all popular pursuits around the lake. All instructors are fully qualified and equipment for all ages and abilities is provided on-site. Children's lessons are available from the age of 6.

Zoomarine

Zoomarine is a fantastic water park which offers a blend of shows featuring marine mammals, informative exhibits and water park attractions.

Watch Zoomarine dolphins, sealions and birds interact naturally with their trainers and see majestic marine mammals both above and below the water thanks to the pools transparent sides.

Pinetrees Riding Centre

Pinetrees Riding Centre is an English-run classical training and trail riding centre approved by the Association of British Riding Schools. Nestled among pinewoods, cork and eucalyptus trees, the centre is perfect for riders of all abilities wanting to enjoy the warmth and beauty of the Algarve from horseback throughout the year.

At Pinetrees they offer classical tuition for all riders on their beautiful Lusitano horses whether you are a nervous novice, a disabled rider, or experienced equestrian. Hot Wheels Raceway

The Hot Wheels track claims to be the fastest in the Algarve and with 12 corners and a long straight for overtaking, it’s hard to argue. It’s a quick, low-cost adrenaline fix designed to bring out the competitive streak in everybody.

Although unsuitable for the very young, Hot Wheels is very popular with families with older children looking for some excitement. No experience is required as each driver is briefed on track safety, track rules, flag meanings and important information about the karts by qualified instructors.

Slide & Splash

Take the plunge at Slide & Splash and have a wet and wild adventure with all the family. The park is suitable for all ages with olympic sized pools and slides that will satisfy the adrenaline junkies and water slide thrill seekers alike. However the park is also perfect for younger children, the children's area features a water spitting dragon, elephant slide, tunnel slides and a shallow pool that's only 40cm deep, perfect for toddlers to splash around in.

The mini golf course at Quinta do Lago is a fantastic source of family fun. Experience playing some of the worlds most famous holes, such as Agusta, Belfry or Sawgrass, only in minature.

Aqualand is considered as one of Europe's largest outdoor water parks and is suitable for all ages.

For the adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers the 'Kamikaze' water slide will be sure to excite. At over 100ft high the Kamikaze is the biggest water slide in Portugal.

Younger children have plenty of choice too, 'Children's Paradise' has two children's pools, lots of smaller slides, castles, water fountains and animal figures.
