Since 1256  it has been the Castle of Meleto to welcome those arriving in Gaiole in Chianti.

A perfect fusion between the past and the future, today the castle is a multifunctional reality, a synthesis and expression of the most authentic characteristics of Tuscany : the prestigious winery , specialized in local wines, has been joined by the production of extra virgin olive oil and breeding of Cinta Senese.

The lands of Castello di Meleto extend around the castle for about one thousand hectares: one hundred and sixty of them are dedicated to the cultivation of vines. In recent years, particular attention has been paid to the study of the land most suited to viticulture, distinguishing five farm units, each of which has its own peculiar characteristics: Meleto, San Piero, Casi, Poggiarso and Moci.

Castello di Meleto is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico . Crossing its lands is the Massellone torrent , once called Clante , from whose name it seems that the denomination derives. The farm land reaches 600 m above sea level , with an average altitude between 350 and 450 metres , a characteristic which determines strong temperature variations between day and night, ideal for the development of aromas and the maintenance of freshness.

The absolute protagonist is the Sangiovese vine , symbol of the Chianti Classicowhich, in the individual sub-zones, gives different expressions. Alongside it, there are also other indigenous varieties such as Malvasia Nera , Canaiolo and Vermentino  together with international varieties such as Merlot . In Meleto, thanks to the extension of the property and the long history of viticulture, the most suitable lands have been selected , divided into five macro-zones, different in terms of climate, slopes, exposure, soil composition and altitude: Meleto , San Piero , Poggiarso , Moci and Cases .
