The Praia do Vale Covo is a small and secluded beach which overlooks a wonderful set of sea caves.

This tiny beach is reached by following the cliff top walk that extends from the Carvoeiro boardwalk and Algar Seco.

Harder to get to that the other beaches nearby it is unsuitable for people with accessibility issues or small children. Although there are stairs on the way down to the beach you do end up having to jump or climb down and up using a rope for the last metre. The challenges to reach the Praia do Vale Covo contribute to its quietness. The small bay is characterised by its sheltered location and crystal clear water.

If you’re an adventurous beach comber your reward for the tricky decent to Praia do Vale Covo is the desert island tranquillity. Bring your camera for some memorable shots. The holes at the top of the caves are stunning to look through and the ocean view is as spectacular as anywhere along the coast. Just remember there are no life guards at Praia do Vale Covo so explore at your risk.
