Gigi’s has been serving lunch on the Algarve for more than 20 years. But the length of time Gigi’s has been there is only one small measure of its success. In fact, during the height of the season it is virtually impossible to get a table without booking well in advance. A true testament to the restaurant’s popularity.
One of the most iconic places on the Quinta do Lago resort to eat in, Gigi's is only accessible by crossing the quaint wooden bridge over the Ria Formosa tidal lagoon. Lying on an immaculate stretch of gleaming white sand of Praia Quinta do Lago on the edge of the Ria Formosa National Park, Gigi’s offers some of the most breath-taking views available. No wonder it is popular with some of the most famous visitors to Quinta do Lago including Formula One racing drivers, pop stars and even royalty.
Open for lunch between 12:30 and 16:00 every day between March and November, advance booking is highly recommended. With its dawn visits to the local market to secure the freshest produce, daily changing menu and great wine list the food is simple but sublime.
Gigi’s is totally without pretension. Simple wooden tables, shaded from the sun by lemon yellow parasols, sit on wooden decking. Yet somehow this understated simplicity doesn’t seem rustic, but rather, stylish. It is also very welcoming and diners are all made to feel at home.
