The second oldest course in the Algarve and the oldest in Vilamoura, Old Course has quite a history. From the English school of golf course design it is reminiscent of older British courses at their best.
The course is set in an umbrella pinewood and laid out in an interesting way to take advantage of the natural contours. The first holes are easy and inviting with reachable par 4s. The par 3 on the attractive fourth has ‘Hole in One’ potential.
Club selection will play an important role from here as to get round this beautiful and testing course straight shots will be needed. The greens are small and the umbrella trees play a critical role in how you get round the contours and terrain. Challenges and variety are certainly not lacking at the Vilamoura Old Course.
